Incorporating Clinical & Consumer Discovery During Medical Device Product Development

The session will incorporate information and real world applications of how clinical and consumer discover happens during Medical Device Product Development. We will review the 4 P’s to keep in mind with product development which include: Patient, Payer, Provider and Physician; Customers vs. Patients and are they really the same thing; and finally where clinical feedback from physicians and other various clinicians can be incorporated into product design, form and function. The session will bring in examples of various methods used to gather the critical insights and requirements for product development in the Medical Device space.


About the Presenter

Sharon Baer

Over the last 10 years, Sharon has worked in the field of new to world product development and is currently the Director of Product Management for the Advanced Innovation Business Group with Sleep and Respiratory Care of Philips. Prior to her current position, Sharon worked in the Clinical Marketing Organization for North America as a Program Manager of the Clinical Marketing Team, Global Product Manager and Strategic Marketing Manager for the Sleep Therapy before moving over to start the Advanced Innovation Department. Sharon started her career as a Critical Care Respiratory Therapist & Department Manager at Montefiore Hospital and Presbyterian Hospital in Pittsburgh PA. She transitioned from hospital critical work into clinical education with students currently obtaining their Associate and Bachelors degree’s in Respiratory Therapy. She has been a Program Director for 2 different Associate Degree Respiratory Therapy Programs prior to coming to Philips.
