Sustainability — The First Steps

Environmental Sustainability in the Corporate World: What is it, why is it important, and how has it evolved over the last decade? Sue will take you through some history of environmental sustainability, some definitions, the current state and future opportunities. She will share some tools to understand where you (your organization) are today with regard to a Sustainability Maturity Model. These are the first steps to realize the financial advantage of companies that embrace environmental sustainability as part of their new product development process.

About the Presenter

Susan Burek

Susan Burek is the Administrator and Product Manager for PDMA’s kHUB. She also contracts as a Senior Consultant at Foresight Science and Technology. Previously, she dedicated more than 10 years of her career to sustainability, health, safety, environment and regulatory issues germane to new product innovation at Ingersoll Rand, Stanley Black & Decker, Clariant Corporation and Eastman Kodak Company. Susan earned a BS in chemistry and an MS in product development from the Rochester Institute of Technology and has co-authored three RTM articles related to Sustainability and Product Development.
