PDMA Egypt Chapter offers unique knowledge and know-how to product developers within the community in Egypt. PDMA Egypt Chapter strategic importance is derived from the need to develop solutions and opportunity for the growing needs and demands of the Egyptian market.

With the current growth rate of entrepreneurs launching their own businesses to offer products to the market, the chapter would also benefit such visionaries to better improve their offerings and their overall products and businesses and would benefit from their experience and learnings.

Chapter Leadership

Seif Abdelghany

Seif Abdelghany is an energetic New Product Development Professional (NPDP), Product and Project Manager with focus on innovations and product development in the home appliances industry. Seif has worked for three and half years as Senior R&D Engineer in Electrolux Home appliances through which he has led & been part of several projects in product innovation & development. He is now working as Local category manager for washing machines in Electrolux where he leads innovation activities for new products from inception to launch. Seif is the author and presenter of the product innovation podcast, a podcast dedicated for the product innovation community in Egypt where topics on product innovation in various industries are discussed with industry leaders. Seif holds both B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Mechatronics Engineering from the German University in Cairo (GUC), published 3 articles and 1 book. He is currently pursuing his MBA in Eslsca Business School in Global Management. He is also a certified New Product Development Professional (NPDP) and a member of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA). He is also a PMP Certified, Certified Product Manager (CPM), Certified Innovation Leader (CIL), Ambassador and member of The Association of International Product Marketing & Management (AIPMM).

Mohamad Midani

Dr. Mohamad Midani is an Assistant Professor at the Materials Engineering Department, German University Cairo, Egypt. He is the managing partner of inTEXive consulting, Secretary General of the International Association of Palm Byproducts, and member of the Advisory Board of Middle East Company for Textiles. Dr. Midani has long experience in the textile industry, with a focus on technical textiles and nonwovens, with an ongoing research collaboration and consulting to the industry. His research focuses on natural fibers and fiber reinforced composites, and he is the inventor of PalmFil fibers. He is also the co-founder of the World Conference on Palm Byproducts and their Applications (ByPalma). He published more than 25 articles in international journals and conferences in addition to co-editing two books. Dr. Midani is a reviewer to international journals from different publishers. He teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on Fiber Reinforced Polymer Composites as well as New Product development and Innovation Management. In 2016, Dr. Midani received a recognition for excellence in teaching from NC State University, and in 2019 from the American University in Cairo. Dr. Midani has his BSc in Mechanical Engineering from Ain Shams University (2006), MT in Textiles & Apparel Technology and Management (2012), and Ph.D. in Fiber and Polymer Science from the College of Textiles NC State University (2016). He is a certified New Product Development Professional (NPDP) and a member of the Product Development and Management Association (PDMA).

Nariman Lotfi

Nariman Lotfi is a Product Design Instructor at the German University in Cairo where she received her M.Sc. in 2014. Since then she has published several research papers in diverse design fields such as material studies, education systems, design management, sustainable development, and product design processes. She has also conducted projects, research and talks under the field of Biomimicry where she was awarded the Grand Prize in 2013 by the Biomimicry Institute. She has worked as a product design consultant working with local startups to launch successful products and has freelanced in several industrial and furniture design projects, both with startups and larger companies. She combines both her practical experience with her academic knowledge to supervise product design students in developing their skills to create successful and innovative products. She is currently working on her PhD degree focused on bridging the gap between the Egyptian industry and the product design education.

Mohammad Elsabbahy

Mohammed Elsabbahy is a Product Manager at Lotus CAD, Innovation Consultant, and former R&D Leader. He holds a Bachelor degree in Design and Production Engineering from Ain Shams University. He has 10 years of experiences working in local and multinational companies developing new products in multiple fields; Home Appliances, Plastics, Hardware Products, Steel Structure and Sheet metal. Also He was a former Innovation Consultant and Technical Manager of national project supporting +60 companies in accelerating their product development efforts in exporting new products, especially to the European Union.
