Event Description:

Join us on September 16th at the Carnegie Museum of Art for an inspiring evening focused on design. Museum docents will guide us through the Extraordinary Ordinary Things exhibit while providing enlightening background information on the different pieces on display. You will see more than 300 objects, ranging from practical and every day to evocative and extraordinary. Immediately following the tour, a panel of expert designers will provide insight into product and experience design as well as design methodologies and concepts, drawing from examples from the exhibit and their own practice.

The panelists include:

  • Laura Vinchesi, Lead Visual and Information Designer, Seegrid
  • Matt Beale, President, Daedalus
  • Dino Mariano, Design Director, Bally Design Inc.

Here’s what you will learn:

  • Current methods and practices of product design from a practical and an academic perspective
  • How design influences usefulness, usability, and desirability
  • Ground rules of “good design” embodied in ordinary objects
