Workshop Description

When different concept ideas emerge from the innovation process, how do you select one idea over another to be prototyped? This is a dilemma that most innovators face. It’s a classic decision-making problem. When you join us during the February 27th PDMA Pittsburgh workshop – How to Create Concept Ideas, Select, and Prototype – you will learn best practices and techniques to overcome this challenge.

We have assembled a team of Pittsburgh’s top product developers, managers, and designers to facilitate the workshop and teach you proven methods that you can begin using right away.

During the workshop:

  • The facilitators will provide a brief overview of concept ideation methods and review the topics for the group projects.
  • Then, you will break out into smaller groups to work on a challenging concept ideation exercise.
  • You’ll work through the concept ideation exercise to generate ideas, organize them into logical, meaningful clusters, and down select on lead ideas.
    • Working from the selected problem statement, you’ll generate ideas that might resolve the problem/challenge.
    • You’ll sort and organize the ideas using tools like affinity grouping, bullseye targeting, and other methods that will be introduced during the workshop.
    • You’ll conduct a down selection exercise using agreed to criteria (PUGH diagram) and select the top two ideas or idea themes.
    • You’ll prototype the lead idea using a simple collection of materials at hand.
    • You’ll share your results with the class.

If you are a product developer, product manager, innovator, designer, marketer, or engineer, you should definitely attend this engaging workshop. Register now to reserve your seat for this awesome workshop!
