Where new solutions can be built on top of existing technologies faster than ever before. Approximately half of the S&P Fortune 500 companies are said to be replaced in the next decade because of disruption.
We hear the mainstream media talking about disruption daily. However, only few understand what it actually means or how to create it. Mark Adkins would be describing what Disruptive Innovation is, how it is created, and, how it benefits the competition as well as consumers.

Mark Adkins is the CEO of LeanMed (www.leanmedinnovation.com), a medical device company dedicated to bringing essential treatment to underserved regions through innovative technologies. Lean Med's first product, the O2 CUBE, delivers vital supplemental oxygen to patients of rural health clinics in developing nations. With respiratory infections killing millions of patients each year, the O2 CUBE is a landmark step in improving care and saving lives.
Mr. Adkins also serves as a director and vice chair of the Product Development and Management Association (www.pdma.org). The PDMA community is woven from a fabric of international practicing professionals, professors, students and service providers that support corporations and startups with their innovation and product development expertise.
Mark is an adjunct professor at the University of Pittsburgh and an advisor to the Center for Medical Innovation www.engineering.pitt.edu/CMI/ Professor Adkins teaches on the Management of Medical Product Innovation to educate the next generation of innovators in the design, development, and commercialization of medical technologies.
Mr. Adkins is the founder & president of Smart Hammer Innovation (www.smarthammerin.com), a management consulting company. Mark created Velocity, an eight-week student accelerator program that explores opportunities and risks of early stage innovation applying Lean Startup techniques. During his corporate & consulting career, Mark and his teams have led development projects that have launched numerous new products with lifetime sales of over $1B.
Before founding Smart Hammer Innovation Mr. Adkins was a Director at Cincinnati Machine where he spearheaded the design of their new product development process that was recognized in 1998 as the best in the world by the PDMA. Mark was also a director at Kennametal where he successfully integrated independent development teams from Europe, Asia and N.
