I love some of these quotes about culture from the PDMA Body of Knowledge. I'm wondering if anyone has any others - either of your own or that you have come across that struck a chord with you?

The importance of an innovation culture is strongly advocated across most leading organizations.  Following are quotes from senior executives of a selection of organizations that lead in product innovation:

"Organizations whose strategic goals are clear, and whose cultures strongly support those goals, possess a huge advantage."  (Booz and Organization, 2011)

"Inclusion inspires innovation. Great ideas push the world forward. And they can come from anywhere. At Apple, we rely on our employees' diverse backgrounds and perspectives to spark innovation. So we're hiring more inclusively, choosing partners who make diversity a priority, and creating opportunities for the next generation."

"Innovation is so deeply embedded in Apple's culture. The boldness, ambition, belief there aren't limits, a desire to make the very best products in the world. It's the strongest ever. It's in the DNA of the organization." Tim Cook, CEO Apple.

"I encourage our employees to go down blind alleys and experiment. We've tried to create tools to reduce the cost of doing experiments so that we can do more of them. If you can increase the number of experiments you try from a hundred to a thousand, you dramatically increase the number of innovations you produce." Jeff Bezos, Amazon Founder

"What does it take to create this kind of innovative impact? It starts with great hiring…ensuring a 'culture fit' is critical…sharing Airbnb's core values, and comfortable with risk and enjoy adventure…environmental elements that support the innovative culture include:

    • Collaborative workspaces, fun spaces encouraging people working across disciplines.
    • Think globally, act locally.
    • A flat organization where risk-taking is encouraged. Ask for forgiveness rather than permission." Katie Dill, Airbnb.

"I came to see, in my time at IBM, that culture isn't just one aspect of the game-it is the game. In the end, an organization is nothing more than the collective capacity of its people to create value. Vision, strategy, marketing, financial management-any management system, in fact-can set you on the right path and carry you for a while. But no enterprise-whether in business, government, education, health care, or any area of human endeavor-will succeed over the long haul if those elements aren't part of its DNA."  Lou Gerstner former CEO IBM

Although Toyota production system (TPS) is largely credited for the organization's success Toyota views employees not just as pairs of hands but as knowledge workers who accumulate chie-the wisdom of experience-on the organization's front lines. Toyota therefore invests heavily in people and organizational capabilities, and it garners ideas from everyone and everywhere.
