Strategy Execution Frameworks

There is a lot of material out there (including in the PDMA BoK!) to guide Strategy Formulation, but has anyone got a good framework for managing strategy execution? As Mike Roach, the CEO of CGI, once said, "Strategy without Execution is Hallucination."

In the past, I've used Kaplan & Norton's Balanced Scorecard and Strategy Maps, where strategic objectives are listed in the four areas of Financial, Customer, Process and Organisational Capability and initiatives are identified and tracked in order to move measurable KPIs in the chosen strategic direction. It is simple and logical and provides an overview of the whole business and how it's performing against the strategy, but it also has its limitations.

I'd be interested in hearing about other strategy execution frameworks people have used and which ones have delivered successful outcomes.
